This newly constructed mediterranean home design is Mediterranean at heart but also embraces the Northwest vernacular. We designed every detail of the home from the inside out starting with an old world rustic flavor of rich warm tones, heavy rock work and classic architectural details. We incorporated dark stained distressed oak floors reminiscent of wine barrels, natural stone tiles, hand finished textured earthtone walls, accented with espresso stained custom built-ins and stair railings. The end result not only speaks to the Northwest, but also the Italian countryside and Mediterranean Sea.
To keep the home feeling light and fresh we tempered dark wood details with custom furnishings in cream linen, tan and gold. The pieces are traditional but the lines are clean for a fresh look. The built- in desk and shelves in the den offer a place to display the client’s collection of vases and objects, family photos, diplomas and books.
The proportions and placement of the exterior materials of this mediterranean home design play off of early European architecture while complimenting the nearby Downtown Lake Oswego area. We used heavier stone work on the first level, with visually lighter cedar plank above, punctuated with custom French doors and metal railings on the balconies.
